The German battleship Bismarck of the German Kriegsmarine during early World War II
Germany --- The German battleship Bismarck of the German Kriegsmarine during early World War II. The ship was laid down at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg in July 1936 and launched nearly three years later in April 1939. Work was completed in August 1940, when she was commissioned into the German fleet. Along with her sister Tirpitz, Bismarck was the largest battleship ever built by Germany, and the heaviest built by any European power. She was sunk by the Royal Navy in 27 May 1941 in the North Atlantic. There are crew visible on deck. Source of image: KGB archive Ukraine 2010.
