Zeolite particles
Zeolite particles - Zeolites are microporous, aluminosilicate minerals commonly used as commercial adsorbents. Some common mineral zeolites are analcime, chabazite, clinoptilolite, heulandite, natrolite, phillipsite, and stilbite. Natural zeolites form where volcanic rocks and ash layers react with alkaline groundwater. Commonly used in water filtration and purification; used as catalysts in the petrochemical industry; used in the management of leaks and in advanced reprocessing methods of radioactive materials in the nuclear industry; in biogas industry; in construction as a concrete and asphalt additive; in thr medical industry for oxygen concentration; in agriculture; in domestic pet care for aquarium filtration and in cat litter; but the largest single use for zeolite is the global laundry detergent market. 1,300X @ 8"x10" size Color synthesized with Scharf M --- Image by © David Scharf/Corbis
