Australia - Faraway Bay - Eco Tourism
The remote area of Faraway Bay in the northernmost part of Western Australia, contains a barely known site rich in the accomplished art of the first Australians. Scientists and Australian archeologists are united in the excitement of these discoveries: it is however a controversial area of study because of the unresolved question of ownership of these areas and whether scientists and tourists have the right to visit a place so steeped in the culture of its Aboriginal custodians. The markings, portraits and drawings were painted perhaps 20,000 years ago and may be older than the painted bisons in the Paleolithic caves at Lascaux in France.
