Nazca Lines
ca. 200 B.C.-600 A.D., Nazca, Ica Region, Peru --- One of the Nazca lines depicting a hummingbird stands in Nazca, Peru. There is debate about exactly when and why the lines were formed. Some believe they served as an astronomical calendar for the Paracas and Nazca cultures, others that they served as ritual walkways from important ceremonial sites, and some even think they were created by alien spacecraft. | Located in: Nazca. --- Image by © Charles & Josette Lenars/CORBIS
