Haematococcus and Pandorina
Original caption: A microscopic pattern formed by two species of single cell alga, Haematococcus and Pandorina. Haematococcus pluvialis is a biflagellate, unicellular green alga. The red color is the pigment astaxanthin, which provides UV protection to the organism. The green cells are the chlorophyte Pandorina morum.
