Quadriga Statue on Brandenburg Gate
1794, Berlin, Germany --- The Quadriga of Victory crowns the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin's trademark and a monument to the Germany's tumultuous yet stoic history. The Quadriga depicts the goddess of victory commanding a chariot drawn by four horses marching peace into the city. In 1806 Napoleon marched triumphantly into Berlin and carried the Quadriga away with him to Paris as a spoil of war. It was returned to the city in 1814, after the victorious conclusion of the wars of liberation. | Located in: Brandenburg Gate. --- Image by © Jerome Levitch/Corbis
